The Romans, as the Americans, were open-minded in their societal ways, far different than neighboring countries and civilizations of the time. But what each empire has in common in their rise to prominence are the people who called it home. There is a difference of about 2,700 years from the creation of the two empires, and 4,000 miles in between. mirrors ancient Rome, and not that of old England. Everything from governing with a senate to the architecture of our capital, we can thank the ancient Romans for. Even our constitution has shades of Roman inspiration in how our political system was shaped. history classes would know America has already seen its rise, but are we not witnessing the beginning of its downfall? Our founding fathers, Washington and Jefferson, were obsessed with learning all they could about ancient Rome. Anyone who didn’t sleep through their U.S. Rome was not built in a single day, and neither was America. It has been said that the West was built in the shadow of the Roman Empire.
